Conservation of Charlestown Limeworks
Careful repair of part of the scheduled ancient monument at Charlestown,
Fife, has removed embedded vegetation, stabilised loose masonry and ensured
that surviving ironwork and timbers are conserved to reduce further decay.
The kilns will eventually be open for public viewing, and will form part of
an improved experience for visitors to this nationally important site of mid
18th century industrial archaeology.
